I’ve spent a quiet evening at home trying to understand where I went wrong. My grill tongs and fork have been buried in the backyard as the bitter taste of defeat consumes me…NOT…

Look I lost and will simply have to live with the embarassment. However, if I had to lose to somebody, then let it be Schumaker! She really put a lot of work into the event and in the end, what started out as a goofy battle and competitive trash talk between two friends ended with a $1000+ for Now I Lay Me Down To Sleep.

Carey, any time you’re ready for a rematch, let me know. You may have walked away with the trophy and the pink grill, but this was only the first round! And, us old guys are stubborn losers!

We may still be 3 1/2 weeks out, but Molly is ready for the BBQ Smackdown. She’s got two more weeks of classes and she should be able to build her own website at which time she intends to challenge Molly Schumaker to see who can eat the most chicken strips! (Bambi Cantrell)

After getting a shot from Carey’s sister today I realized just how much over her head Carey is in this thing.  How desperate do you need to be to send your sister into battle? 

This is simply about beef, manly beef.  If grills were designed for girls to use, they’d be in pastels…I mean, has anyone ever seen a pale green, pink or yellow grill?  And what about beef?  Just the sound of the word brings vision of manly events, deeper voices, heartier appetites. 

Now if this were a battle of quiches, maybe she’d have a chance, but Carey, don’t you understand you’re just not equipped with the skills?  I really hate to sound sexist (hehehehe) but honestly, grill turf is man turf

I don’t know how this whole thing started…I mean it seemed harmless…Carey said something about making a good steak on the grill.  I commented that I love to grill and make a pretty decent steak myself.  The next thing you know Shumaker has declared herself “Queen of all things grillable!” Come on Shumaker, you made your kids a burger once on a George Foreman grill…I’m talkin’ real heat here, hot coals and real meat, not some pre-seasoned square of something you got from White Castle.  I’ve done my best to be patient with you, but if you want to throw down the gauntlet, then “kid” you’ve met your match…the challenge is steak, not something made out of meat!   Just circle the date on your calendar, because you’re blonde and from southern California and I know you might get your dates mixed up and show up at your next family session on the beach with your grill instead of your camera!  Your mouth is writing checks your grill can’t cash!
